Prepayment of parking
The digital parking meters allow you to pre-pay for time during non-enforcement hours without wasting your money. If you arive prior to 8:00 a.m., you can pay for parking and the meter will not start calculating your time until 8:00 a.m. This means if you had a bit too much fun and need to leave your vehicle downtown overnight, you can pre-pay for time and your meter won’t start running until 8:00 a.m. the following morning. This gives you time to return the next morning and safely retrieve your vehicle.
ParkBoi On-Street E-Permits
The City of Boise’s ParkBOI E-Permit program is designed as a low cost permit for downtown employees. Permits are valid in designated areas in the perimeter of downtown, but permit holders can park in these spaces any time during the week. These permits are $25/month, but the fee can be waived if the employee utilizes alternative transportation for 5+ days in the preceding month (for example you could ride the bus to work 5 days during the month of May and get June’s permit at $0.00). This program is based on availability and is subject to a lottery every six months to ensure equal access.
The Twilight E-permit program was developed for downtown employees who work later afternoon or evening shifts. The cost is $15/month and allows parking after 3 pm at parking meters in zone 3.
Both permits use a vehicle’s license plate as an electronic permit so applicants can purchase them online and use them immediately without making a trip to City Hall.
